Choosing a planter
Roots need drainage: a planter without holes needs a layer of gravel or an inner pot. Clay and ceramic that hold water can crack in frost, so empty them or bring them in for winter unless they are stated frost-resistant. A filled planter weighs far more than an empty one: place large ones before you fill them.
A triangle that fills the corner
- Triangular shape: two sides of 80 and 93.5 cm meet at the corner, closed by a 92 cm front.
- Corrugated galvanised steel: ribbed panels bolted to upright corner posts.
- Rubber top strip: covers the upper edges so they are kinder to hands.
- Open bottom: sits on the soil so water drains away and roots grow down.
It arrives flat with a mounting kit and instructions and needs assembling; two people make it easier, and gloves are sensible as sheet steel edges can be sharp. Soil and plants are not included.

Hose the outside clean when needed and check the bolts at the start of each season. Top the soil up as it settles.
