Choosing the right size
Diameters are measured across the top rim; the flat base is usually 3 to 5 cm (1–2″) smaller. Match the base to your hob ring or zone. On an induction hob, check that induction is listed under Hob types: a magnet sticks firmly to a base that works on induction.
Enamelled cast iron in a small size
- Two sizes: 13 cm or 19 cm across the handles, 8 or 9 cm tall.
- Close-fitting lid: raised rings on top and a stainless steel knob.
- Two loop handles: cast into the sides for lifting with oven gloves.
- Hob and oven: works on gas and induction hobs and in the oven.
- Enamel inside and out: a glossy shaded colour outside and a smooth cream interior.
Use silicone or wooden utensils: metal tools, whisks and knives can scratch the enamel. Lift the pot on a glass-ceramic hob rather than sliding it, and match the burner to the base. The oven temperature and packed weights are supplier-stated.

Care and cleaning
Wash before first use with a mild detergent, rinse and dry. Let the pot cool for a few minutes before washing and never put it hot into cold water, as the enamel can crack or flake. Soak stuck-on food in warm water and clean it with a nylon or soft sponge, never steel wool or abrasive cleaners. In the oven, stand it on the rack, not on the oven floor. Store it dry.

Which size should I choose? The 13 cm pot is for a single portion or a side dish; the 19 cm pot is for a larger portion or a small stew for two.
Does it work on induction? Yes, and on gas hobs. It can also go in the oven up to 260 °C (supplier-stated).
Can I use metal utensils? No. Silicone or wooden tools protect the enamel.
