Choosing the right size
Diameters are measured across the top rim; the flat base is usually 3 to 5 cm (1–2″) smaller. Match the base to your hob ring or zone. On an induction hob, check that induction is listed under Hob types: a magnet sticks firmly to a base that works on induction.
Cast iron body, wooden lid, carry handles
- Cast iron pot: spreads and holds heat for long, gentle simmering.
- Wooden lid: sits inside the rim and has a wooden grip bar across the top.
- Two arched handles: metal bail handles fixed to lugs on either side, for carrying the pot to the table.
- Wide and shallow: 29 cm across the top and 10.5 cm deep, so everyone can reach in at the table.
- Pre-seasoned: ready to cook with; the seasoning builds with use.
The pot and its handles get hot, so use oven gloves. The lid is wood: keep it away from direct flame. The pot is hand wash only and must be dried straight after washing. Heat rating and packed weight are supplier-stated.
