Choosing the right size
Diameters are measured across the top rim; the flat base is usually 3 to 5 cm (1–2″) smaller. Match the base to your hob ring or zone. On an induction hob, check that induction is listed under Hob types: a magnet sticks firmly to a base that works on induction.
Cast iron under a glass lid
- Cast iron body: holds an even heat for braising and searing.
- Glass lid: watch the food cook without lifting it; a black knob on top.
- Two loop handles: lift it with both hands, or hang it on the wall.
- Pre-seasoned: a vegetable oil coating protects the iron from the start.
Cast iron is heavy and gets very hot, handles included: use oven gloves. The pan can go in the oven; the glass lid cannot. It is hand wash only. The maximum temperature is supplier-stated.

Care and cleaning
Before first use, wash it with warm water and a soft brush and dry it over the heat, then rub the inside with cooking oil several times and leave the oil in for 5 to 10 hours. Afterwards, clean it with water and dry it completely each time.

Can it go in the oven? The cast iron pan can; take the glass lid off first.
Does it work on induction? Yes. It suits induction, gas and butane stoves.
