Getting the most from solar
Place the panel where it gets direct sun for most of the day. Run time depends on the day's charge, so it is shorter in winter and after cloudy days. Wipe the panel clean now and then; dust and leaves cut the charge.
A kingfisher lit from above
- Kingfisher cut-out: a black silhouette of a kingfisher on a branch beside reeds and bulrushes, inside a black frame.
- Built-in solar light: a domed solar lamp set into the top of the frame, which charges by day and lights the plaque at night.
- Four fixing holes: one in each corner of the frame for screwing it to a fence or wall.
- Two versions: the open cut-out, which shows your fence or wall behind the kingfisher, or with a white backing panel for a crisp black-on-white look.
The plaque measures 20 cm wide and 25 cm high. How long it stays lit depends on how much direct sun the panel gets in the day, so expect shorter evenings in winter and after cloudy days.

Care and cleaning
Wipe the plaque and the top of the solar lamp with a soft damp cloth now and then. Dust, leaves and bird droppings on the lamp cut the day's charge.

Where should I hang it? Somewhere the top of the lamp gets direct sun for most of the day, such as a south-facing fence or wall.
What is the backing panel for? Without it, your fence or wall shows through the cut-out. With it, the design stands out black on white.
