Choosing a planter
Roots need drainage: a planter without holes needs a layer of gravel or an inner pot. Clay and ceramic that hold water can crack in frost, so empty them or bring them in for winter unless they are stated frost-resistant. A filled planter weighs far more than an empty one: place large ones before you fill them.
A clean steel trough with a choice of drainage
- Galvanised steel: 0.6 mm galvanised steel sheet with a powder-coated finish.
- Optional drainage: one drainage hole in the base with a removable black rubber plug, so you can let water run out outdoors or keep it in indoors.
- Simple shape: straight sides and square corners in an even dark grey.

Care and cleaning
Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Take the plug out after heavy rain so the roots do not sit in water, and touch up any scratch in the coating with metal paint to keep the steel protected.

Can I use it indoors? Yes. Leave the rubber plug in so no water runs out, and water sparingly or use a layer of gravel at the bottom.
