Choosing the right size
Diameters are measured across the top rim; the flat base is usually 3 to 5 cm (1–2″) smaller. Match the base to your hob ring or zone. On an induction hob, check that induction is listed under Hob types: a magnet sticks firmly to a base that works on induction.
Two pans from one piece of cast iron
- Deep pot: about 5 litres, 25 cm across and 11.6 cm deep.
- Lid that is a pan: 24.8 cm across and 5 cm deep; it closes the pot or cooks on its own.
- Loop handles on both: wide side handles on the pot and on the lid, big enough to hold with oven gloves on.
- Hob, grill and oven: induction, gas, ceramic and electric hobs, a grill and the oven.
The set is heavy and every part gets very hot, handles included: always use oven gloves. Cook on low to medium heat and let the pan warm up slowly. It is hand wash only. The heat rating and packed weight are supplier-stated.

Care and cleaning
Wash by hand with warm water; a little mild soap is fine, and a pan scraper lifts stuck-on food. Dry every part completely, wipe on a very thin film of cooking oil and store it dry, with a sheet of kitchen paper between pot and lid. A little black residue on the cloth is seasoning and is normal. Let the pan cool before washing: cold water on hot cast iron can crack it. Rust can be scoured off and the pan seasoned again with oil in a hot oven.

Can I use the lid and the pot at the same time? Yes. They are two separate pieces, so the lid can fry on one burner while the pot simmers on another.
Does it work on induction? Yes, and on gas, ceramic and electric hobs, a grill and in the oven.
Can I bake bread in it? Yes. Bread can be baked in the pot with the lid on in the oven.
