Choosing a planter

Roots need drainage: a planter without holes needs a layer of gravel or an inner pot. Clay and ceramic that hold water can crack in frost, so empty them or bring them in for winter unless they are stated frost-resistant. A filled planter weighs far more than an empty one: place large ones before you fill them.

Care and cleaning

Rinse with a garden hose or wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use a pressure washer, sharp tools or harsh cleaners, which can damage the powder coating.
